Daniel holds a position as Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of California, Riverside. He founded the Functional Metabolomics Lab in 2021 as an independent junior research group at the University of Tuebingen, and worked before as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of California, San Diego. Daniel earned his PhD in biochemistry at the Technical University Berlin, and studied biotechnology at the University of Applied Sciences in Darmstadt and at the Polytechnic University of Valencia in Spain.

Abzer joined the group for her PhD studies in 2022. Abzer holds a bachelor's degree  in Biomedical Engineering from the Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Engineering College and a master's degree in Medical Photonics from the Friedrich Schiller University Jena.

Karo is working on her PhD thesis in the biochemistry program at UCR. She joined the group as master student in 2022 in Tuebingen, were she did her master's studies after completion of her bachelor's degree in molecular medicine at the University of Ulm.

Tilman is a PhD student in the biochemistry program at UCR and joined the group for his master thesis in 2022. He holds a master's degree in Microbiology and a bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Tuebingen.

Christian joined the group in 2023 as a postdoctoral researcher. He received his license as pharmacist in 2018 and Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technologies in 2019, before then doing a PhD in Analytical Chemistry at the University of Tuebingen.

Simon joined the group for his master rotation in 2023. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Biological Chemistry from the University of Applied Science in Mannheim and is currently conducting his master's studies in Biochemistry at the University of Tuebingen.

Daniela joined the group in 2023 as a joint PhD Student between us and the Mordhorst Lab. She holds a bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering and Biological Sciences from the National University in Colombia and Master’s degree in Biotechnology from the University of Cordoba, Spain.

Paolo holds a position as Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Researcher. He joined the group in 2021 and earned his PhD before in cellular and molecular biology from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. Paolo obtained his master's degree in biology from the University of La Laguna and the University of Palermo, where he also got his bachelor's degree in environmental science.

Stelio is a IMPRS fellow and is currently conducting his PhD studies jointly in the Ley Lab at the Max Planck Institute for Biology. He joined the group for his master project in 2022, and studied biochemistry at the University of Tuebingen, where he also obtained his bachelor degree before.

Sibgha joined the group as a PhD student in 2022. Sibgha holds a bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from the Hazara University and a Master’s degree in Biotechnology from the Quaid-i-Azam University.

Marcelo joined the group as a postdoctoral researcher  in 2022 in a joint position with the Link Lab. He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Biotechnology from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, where he is also did his PhD in microbial ecology.

Giovanni joined the group as a postdoctoral researcher in 2023. He holds a bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Naples Federico II, he did his PhD in Natural Products Chemistry at the National Research Council of Italy, and worked two years as Postdoctoral Researcher at the Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn of Naples.

Stephan joined the group as a Master's Student in 2023, jointly between us and the Nahnsen Lab. He studies in the master program of bioinformatics and holds a bachelor’s in Microbiology from the University of Tuebingen.

The lab is actively engaged in multiple larger collaborations and consortia, including the Virtual Multi-Omics Lab (V-MOL), the GNPS computational mass spectrometry community.
